This year I found myself more interested in looking through the young adult and children's books now that I've been working in the children's department and am currently taking a course in young adult literature. I ended up getting a bunch of stuff. A lot of the books are only 50 cents to $2, so it's really an amazing deal. I wanted to find a copy of Carrie, and I actually found one which is rare for me, but some of the pages were coming out, so I decided to just order a used copy online for about $4.
Speaking of Carrie, Chris and I just re-watched the remake since it was just made available on Netflix. I think I like it better than the original. I think they did a great job in remaking it, as well as casting it. Just because it seemed so ridiculous, we decided to watch Carrie 2 afterwards, and it was definitely pure 90's cheesiness. It reminded me of the Michael Myers sequels, kind of. It was just bad, but in a funny way and we had fun drinking wine together and making fun of it.
I love book sales because, like thrifting, you never know what you might find. It's fun to be surprised by what you might find. I also love the smell of all the books, especially old books. It's my favorite smell in the whole world. One of the many perks of working in a library is getting a whiff of some of the older books on the shelves...lol.
My young adult literature class is going well. I started off strong being able to read the amount of books we had to each week, but then I started getting behind. It's hard to read 3 books a week with work, other classes, and all the other things in life.
