Speaking of Halloween time, I'm very excited that it's here. I think I have now decided that I'm going to either be Snow White or a French Maid...or both, depending on how many times I will be required to wear a costume. I ordered both costumes from HalloweenCostumes.com. I really love that website, but I have just discovered that they are not really great to do returns with. They charge you to ship it back AND they charge you an 18% restocking fee. Not cool. I am returning a $30 costume and will probably be getting $17 back. That's about half of a refund. I probably won't order from them anymore. I decided to order a different Snow White costume from Yandy.
I felt that a cemetery was a perfect place to take photos in this dress and in October. I really do love cemeteries, and I don't care if that's morbid or macabre. It makes me think of all the lives past and all the people that had lives in the same town and walked the same streets that I do now. I find it to be a very reflective place, if that makes any sense. The older the cemetery, the better, too.
I just finished reading an amazing book about Salem. I'm not going to get into too much detail because I'll probably write about it in a separate post about books I've recently read, but the books was AWESOME. It's called A Season with the Witch: The Magic and Mayhem of Halloween in Salem, Massachusetts. The author writes about staying there for the entire month of October and he goes into the history of the city and the Witch Trials and he interviews a lot of different people from the city so there are lots of different perspectives on Halloween and October in Salem, the Witch Trials, etc. If you love Halloween, Salem, witches, or all of the above I highly recommend you read this book.
While I'm talking about books, I would like to rant about the film adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It was awful. I will never understand how filmmakers are handed a perfectly good story and then decide to change things in unnecessary ways. There were a lot of changes made, and they weren't for the better. They were pretty big changes. I was pretty upset about it. If you read the book, you are most likely going to hate the movie. I just hope that the movie doesn't discourage people from reading the book because it's so much better.
So far I haven't done many fall things like apple picking or pumpkin picking or corn mazes. I did just get back from an overnight stay in Vermont, though! I am hoping to get to Salem this month, but we shall see how that goes. I have a four day weekend for my birthday, so I'm super excited about that. I am going to cram as many autumny things into that weekend as I possibly can!
